Hey everyone.. thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.. Marc needs them. He's going in for surgery tomorrow @ 2pm on his jaw.. but other than that he's just healing.. he's stable.. but it's a slow process. The nurses tell me.. baby steps.. :) thanks for your support. I know he appreciates it.

An overview and update on Marc's condition... At 8:16 pm on Dec 6, 2007 marc was involved in a motorcycle accident... a 25 year old female pulled out in front of him... she was cited for failure to yield...He suffered a skull fracture near his left temporal lobe, multible facial fractures and a broken jaw. His jaw has been wired shut and some facial bones have been stablized. He has a tracheostomy tube and a feeding tube. There are 8 levels on the "Scale of Cognitive Functioning". From level 1 (no response, coma) to level 8 (purposeful and appropriate response). Marc is somewhere between level 3 and 4. Which means he begins to move his eyes and look at specific people and objects... turn his head toward loud voices and noise...can follow simple commands... But, is confused about whats happening, disoriented, agitated and unaware of present events...On Monday he was transfered from the Neuro ICU to the Neuro Progressive care unit at Bayfrount medical Center. He is in room 205 and visiting hours are from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. There are no restrictions on who may visit. But you may want to wait until he's at level 6. Then both you and he will appricate the visit. I will keep you informed of his progress. Please drive/ride safely and wear a helmet.

Update on Marc...01/03/08
Marc has been transfered to the Brain Injury Unit at Bayfront Medical Center. This is where his rehab begins. The average stay at this unit is 21 days. But at the end of the 21 days, Marc may not be much further along than he is now. Or he may be ready to function on his own. After the next few weeks we will have a better indication on how long his recovery will take. He is in room 646 and visiting hours are limited from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. His current condition is the same, somewhere between level 3 and 4. As stated before, it may be best for both you and him to wait to visit until he's at level 6 or above. I'll keep you posted of any signifcant changes.

Hello All. I would like to say thank you for all your expressed concern, thoughts, and prayers for Marc. I have been informed that Marc's parents request that you wait a little bit before you come and visit him. I know they appreciate everything everyone has done for him, but they just ask to wait until he is a little better before visiting. Right now, he gets a little agitated and because of this, it is a little difficult to get him to calm down. They just want to make sure than you, as well as Marc, are not endangered and want Marc to have a smooth recovery. They will keep us updated as to when he will be in a better state to accept visitors. Thank you all again.

update on Marc...02/01/08
We had an opportunity to observe Marc during his afternoon therapy sessions, physical and occupational. Also talk with his speech therapist. He is making progress everyday. His arch bars along with his trach should be removed during this next week. This should allow us to better understand what he is trying to say. He is eating a soft diet with all liquids. His Doctor seemed to imply that Marc should be there at least another 4 weeks. But as we all know with health care today, it's up to the approval of his insurance company. We will let you know when Marc is ready for more visitors. Thank You again for all your support.

update on Marc...02/11/08
Marc had his arch bars removed along with his trach. he is doing very well. Marc is on a regular diet (real food) and enjoying it. Marc is at level 6 plus, therefore every one is welcome to visit Marc. Visiting hours are from 4:00 to 8:00 pm daily and only 2 visitors at a time (excluding his parents). But, Marc is at his best between 4:00 and 6:00 pm. After that he tires and may get confused. He may give incorrect responses during a conversation because his brain has not fully healed itself. We visit Mondays and Thursdays from 4:00 to about 6:30 pm. If you wish to visit Marc we would ask that If possible, go during another day. If not, Mondays and Thursdays are fine. Marc really would enjoy a visit and encouragement from his friends. Thank you all for being there for Marc.

Just came back from visiting Marc tonight. To Michelle Hook and anyone else. You can visit Marc at any time. But remember we like to visit him every Monday and Thursday from 4:00 to about 6:00 pm. He will be having his feeding tube removed some time this week. If you would like to bring him some Winghouse food it should be OK, Starting next Tuesday 02/26. I'm sure Marc would really enjoy your visits.

Spent the afternoon with Marc for our training day. He no longer has any tubes, etc in his body and feels good about that. He has no restrictions on diet and eats just about what ever he is served. He no longer requires a sitter and can walk his floor any time he wishes. Looks like he'll be there at least through March. Visiting hours are still 4:00 to 6:00 pm daily. 6th floor, room 646.

OOPS! visiting hours are from 4:00 to 8:00 PM...Sorry about that. We usually go Mondays and Thursdays 4:00 to 6:00 PM. But visiting hours last until 8:00 PM
